Science exploration is a key component of a well-rounded education. That is why we have created the Science Teacher S2J Summer Externship, offering middle and high school Science educators resources and experiences that can translate into classroom activities and Science curricula.

 

Teacher Externship participants will experience hands-on activities and demonstrations, industry partner tours, and exposure to cutting-edge technology in the Sciences. Explore fun and unique ways to engage and cultivate learning opportunities while gaining knowledge about science-related careers in our region.

Join us this summer for a journey that goes beyond the classroom and the textbook, and discover the connections between Science and Jobs!

*The Science Teacher S2J Summer Externship is limited to a total of 45 participants. The S2J Teacher Externship is open to current middle school and high school science teachers in the Avilla, Bronaugh, Carl Junction, College Heights, Diamond, East Newton, Greenfield, Golden City, Jasper, Joplin, Lamar, Lockwood, Miller, Pierce City, Sarcoxie, Seneca, Stockton, Verona and Webb City school districts. Seats have been reserved for each district. On-campus overnight accommodations are available, but not required.

9:15am     S2J Overview

9:45am     Break 

10:00am   Campus Tour

11:00am   Lion Mall 

12:00pm   Boxed Lunch & Guest Speaker

1:00pm     Breakout Session with Panel

2:00pm     Break

2:15pm     Breakout Session with Activity

3:15pm     Break with Snacks

3:30pm     Industry Demonstration

4:30pm     Wrap-Up

5:00pm     Dinner (on own)

6:30pm     Evening Activity (off campus)

9:30am     Break

9:45am     Session #2 with Campus Experts

10:45am   Teambuilding Activity

11:45am   Lunch Buffet & Guest Speaker

1:00pm     Session #3 with Campus Experts

2:15pm     Session #4 with Campus Experts

3:15pm     Share & Socialize with Snacks

4:30pm     Dinner (on own)

6:30pm     Evening Activity: Walking Tour of                            Downtown
